Halloween activities are creeping up throughout Lake County this weekend. Here's a sampling of the upcoming events:

FUN FAIR | Hobart

The Hobart Jaycees will hold a children's Halloween fun fair from noon to 4 p.m. Oct. 24 at Festival Park . The fun fair will include a DJ, costume contest, Halloween safety presentation sponsored by Jack and Jill Academy, Jack O Lantern contest, fun fair games for a nominal cost.

Children Trick or Treat by going from car trunk to car trunk to get their goodies. This event will be from 4 to 6 p.m.Oct. 25 at New Pointe Church, 676 W. Division Road. After the event enjoy pizza with the pastor.

KEY CLUB PARTY | Crown Point

Crown Point children from preschool through fifth grade are invited to attend the annual Halloween festivities hosted by the Crown Point High School Key Club from 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 27 in the high school cafeteria at 1500 S. Main St. Games, prizes and a haunted house will be featured along with other activities. Participants are invited to come in costume. There is no charge. Guests should enter through the main entrance to the high school off of the circle drive.

The annual pumpkin display is being planned at the Barenie family home, 917 E. Miller St. Three generations of the family create a themed display consisting of 35 to 40 carved pumpkins. This year there are three pumpkins over 1,000 lbs. each, contributing to a total of 12,000 pounds of pumpkin carved. The initial lighting is scheduled for dusk Oct. 29. There is no charge and viewing will continue for about one week, weather permitting.

NIGHT WALK | Munster

The Bieker Woods Night Walk will be held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Oct. 29 and 30. Due to construction at the School Town of Munster, the parking and entrance have changed for this event; park in the Community Park parking lot near the Babe Ruth field. The entrance will be near the Babe Ruth Concession Stand. This annual event offers a frightfully good time as Munster Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts and the Munster Parks and Recreation Department, along with local residents, transform Bieker Woods into a scary, yet fun experience. Tour guides lead participants to new thrills and chills around every turn. Children under age 8 must be accompanied by an adult. If you scare easily, enter with caution. Fee is $5 for adults and $3 for children 12 and younger. On-site ticket sales begin at 6 p.m. The line formation and ticket sales will be cut off at 8:30.

EGG HUNT | Crown Point

Crown Point Parks Department will host its free Annual Halloween Egg Hunt at 5:30 p.m. Oct. 30 at Sauerman Woods Park, 1000 E. South St. Open to children ages 8 and younger, call to register by Oct. 28.

TRICK OR TREAT | Merrillville

The Sterling House of Merrillville will host its annual Community Trick or Treating from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Oct. 30 at 8253 Virginia St. All children 12 and younger are invited for a spooktacular good time. There will be indoor trick or treating from room to room, a haunted house, games and snacks.

TOWN HALL TREATS | Merrillville

Ghosts and goblins 5 and younger are invited to trick-or-treat in a safe, warm and dry environment from 1 to 3 p.m. Oct. 30 at the Merrillville Town Hall, 7820 Broadway. Town employees will supply the treats.

The Hebron national Junior Honor Society will sponsor a Hebron Haunted House from 4:30 to 6 p.m. for younger kids Oct. 29 and 7:30 to 10 p.m. for anyone. On Oct. 30 times are 7:30 to 10 p.m.. The lights will be off and lots of scaring will take place. The cost of the haunted house is $5 for adults, $3 for students and $1 per person during kid time on Oct. 29. all proceeds are used to help Angel Tree families within Hebron. Last year we raised over $3,000 which we used to help families on local Angel Trees. Use the middle school concession stand entrance.

Roselawn American Legion Post 238, Ind. 10 between Interstate 65 and Ind. 55. will be having a Halloween Party from 9 p.m. to midnight Oct. 30 with karaoke music by Rita Edwards.

Dyer Lions Club will host a Halloween Party for all children, young and old, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Oct. 31 at the St. Joseph School gym, 430 Joliet St. Costume contest, games, snacks, music and prizes.

Plaza Lanes will host a Halloween Costume Party from 10 p.m. to 1 a.m. Oct. 31. For $35 per couple, participants receive unlimited bowling, free shoe rental, food buffet and one complimentary drink per person. Prizes for scariest, funniest and best costume. For those 21 and older. Random "spooktacular" prizes. Make reservations.

St. John Mall will offer a bounce house in its parking lot for children from noon to 4 p.m. Oct. 31 just north of 93rd Avenue on U.S. 41. Merchants will be handing out treats, and no costume is required. There will also be treats for adults.
