HAMMOND — A man and a woman have been indicted on felony charges of robbery and aiding and betting in connection with recent bank hold-ups in Griffith and Crown Point, according to federal court documents.

Artez Brewer, 29, and Robin Pawlak, 30, both of Gary, are both charged in connection with the April 28 robbery of Centier Bank, 500 N. Broad St., in Griffith.

Brewer is also accused of robbing Main Source Bank, 11330 Broadway in Crown Point, on May 6.

The indictment was entered Thursday.

In the April 28 incident, a suspect, wearing a mask, produced a threatening note demanding money at the bank just after 9 a.m. Thursday, according to police. The suspect left the bank with an undisclosed amount of money and fled south on Broad Street in a black Chevrolet Impala with dark tinted windows.

In the May 6 incident, police say a woman dressed in black, wearing a hood and sunglasses entered the bank carrying a bag and handed an employee a note demanding money be put into the bag.

The suspect then ran from the business with an undetermined amount of money.

Brewer faces three counts of bank robbery and aiding and abetting.

Pawlak faces two counts of bank robbery and aiding and abetting.
