WHITING | Twenty years have passed since Toni Rodriguez died of breast cancer, and her family is doing what they can to honor her memory and help raise money to find a cure for breast cancer.
Rodriguez's daughters, Micki Boland, of Whiting, Debby Janssen, of Lansing, and Robin Rotolo, of Tinley Park, as well as granddaughters Kelsee Boland and Rachel Young, plan to participate in the 2014 Avon Walk in Chicago. The men in the family will volunteer as crew members for the walk.
Before they walk, the group will host the St. Patty's Goes Pink fundraising event at the Whiting Knights of Columbus at 7 p.m. March 8. The event will include a cash bar, DJ and raffles. Tickets are $20.
The team previously hosted a wine tasting and a garage sale in September, 2013 to help raise funds for the walk.
To purchase tickets, contact Kelsee Boland at Bolandk@stu.aii.edu or Micki Boland at MickiBoland@yahoo.com. All proceeds will go toward their Avon team named Toni's Girls.
