WHITING | A Whiting home was destroyed by fire early Monday morning, fire officials said.
Whiting Fire Chief Gus Danielides said firefighters were called at 4:20 a.m. to the single-family home in the 1600 block of Central Avenue. When crews arrived, they found the home fully engulfed in flames.
No one was injured in the fire, the chief said.
Firefighters had the blaze under control in about an hour, Danielides said, but remained on scene until around 9 a.m.
The homeowner, who was not home when the fire broke out, plans to stay with relatives in the area.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation, the chief said.
