WHITING | Donations for the renovation of the Whiting Community Center will be announced Thursday.
The event is set for 10:30 a.m. at the center, 1938 Clark St.
The center, dedicated in November 1923, was a gift to the community from John D. Rockefeller. It was added to the National Register for Historic Places in 1980.
The city is planning to reconstruct the lower floors of the community center this year to separate children and adult activities.
