WHITING | As the summer gets into full swing, Whiting is gearing up for a whirlwind summer, filled with exciting events and developments in the city.
In addition to the world-renowned Pierogi Fest and Symphonies in the Park this month, Whiting holds weekly Farmers Markets from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays in front of City Hall, with exhibitors from Indiana and Illinois. All products are fresh and available in season.
For car lovers, check out Cruise Night, sponsored by the City of Whiting every third Wednesday of the month until October, including 6 to 9 p.m. July 17 and Aug. 21.
Symphony concerts in Whiting Park are set for 7:30 p.m. July 20, Aug. 3 and 17, with Jazz Concerts planned Aug. 10 and 24.
Pierogi Fest takes over downtown Whiting from July 26 through 28, with food, music, a parade, art show, booths, games and a beer garden.
The WHAM Bike Ride takes place Aug. 3.
