WINFIELD | Two people were being held for questioning late Friday in connection with an armed robbery earlier at a Winfield bank, Lake County police spokeswoman Patti Van Til said.

About 11 a.m. Friday, a man entered the First Midwest Bank at 10858 Pike St. and displayed a gun, according to the Lake County Sheriff's Department. The man then fled on foot toward the Walgreens at 109th and Randolph streets.

Police believe the man got into a red, four-door passenger vehicle near 108th and Park streets.

The suspect is described as a black man about 5 feet 9 inches tall, wearing a red and black Bulls jacket and gold sunglasses. Police believe he may have taken off the jacket and had on a multicolored T-shirt.

Anyone with additional information in the robbery can call Lake County police at (219) 755-3400.
