CROWN POINT | Lake County Sheriff John Buncich said Monday an intense 72-hour investigation led to the capture of a Gary man and an Crown Point-area woman being charged with robbing a Winfield bank this weekend.

He named the suspects as Michael Desean Anderson, 24, of the 1500 block of Tompkins Street of Gary's West Side and 21-year-old Rachel Mauger, of the 7000 block of east 117th Avenue in Winfield Township.

Police said a man entered the First Midwest Bank at 10858 Pike St. in the town of Winfield 11 a.m. Friday, displayed a gun, took an undisclosed amount of cash and fled on foot to a car parked near 108th and Park streets, which then drove away.

Buncich said county Detective Michelle Dvorsak and Deputy Cmdr. Matt Eaton of the sheriff's criminal investigation division, were able to track down the suspects along with recovering the getaway car and money taken in the crime.

Police said the two are charged with Class C robbery. Their bond is set at $3,000 cash or $30,000 surety.

Buncich said the bank was chosen at random.
