WINFIELD | The owners of Four Fathers Brewing, a small startup craft beer brewery, hope to make the town a craft beer destination in Northwest Indiana.

Winfield residents Jason Lacny and Colin Oswald recently presented their vision for the new business to the Winfield Town Council. Their plans include opening an on-site small beer production facility and a tap-room at 8183 E. 109th Ave.

The friends created the idea for Four Fathers Brewing LLC while students at Purdue University. Lacny and Oswald will be brewmasters, co-managers of brewery operations and key managers/owners. Their wives, Elizabeth Lacny and Kimberly Oswald, are also key managers/owners and will both be chief operations officers.

The taproom would allow patrons to have beer by the glass or carry out 64 fluid ounce growlers. Only beer produced on-site with a few guest beers will be served in the taproom, according to the presentation. Wine may be introduced in the future.

Initially, the taproom would be open from six to eight hours only on Fridays, Saturday and Sundays.

The storefront Lacny and Oswald are considering on East 109th Avenue will be in Winfield’s new tax increment financing district. The owners said during the presentation that phase one involves establishing and growing the brand over the next two to five years.

The second phase will evolve over five to 10 years, and will expand the business into a full production brewing facility, also in Winfield.

“We pride ourselves on producing craft ales and lagers that appeal to not only the craft beer enthusiast, but anyone wishing to explore the world of craft beer,” according to the presentation given by Lacny and Oswald.
