CEDAR LAKE — A police officer and a woman were taken to a Crown Point hospital late Tuesday after a two-car crash, Police Chief David Coulson said.

The officer's marked squad and the woman's car collided about 9:50 p.m. Tuesday at the intersection of West 133rd and Parrish avenues.

The officer and woman were taken to Franciscan Health Crown Point hospital, where both were treated and released, Coulson said.

The officer's air bag deployed, Coulson said. He did not have further details about the woman.

Per department protocol, Cedar Lake police requested the Lake County Sheriff's Department investigate the crash. Coulson declined further comment on the circumstances of the crash to protect the integrity of the sheriff's police investigation.
