CROWN POINT | A 17-year-old Hammond teen was sentenced to 50 years in prison Thursday after pleading guilty to raping three girls.

Dedrick Johnson, whose case was waived to adult court, pleaded guilty to battery and three counts of rape. A count of aggravated battery and two counts of robbery were dismissed. He received about three and a half years of credit time.

Johnson pleaded guilty to a series of violent crimes that took place in 2011. On Jan. 20, Johnson forced a girl into having sexual intercourse, resulting in a charge of rape with a deadly weapon.

A month later, on Feb. 14, Johnson raped a girl and stole $22 from her in the 400 block of Willow Court in Hammond, police said.

Finally, 10 days later, on Feb. 24, Johnson forced a third girl into sexual intercourse in the 4900 block Hohman Avenue, police said. The assault resulted in another charge of rape with a deadly weapon.
