LAPORTE | The LaPorte Hospital Foundation and LaPorte Hospital Auxiliary has awarded more than $37,000 in scholarships to area students pursuing health-related education. In addition, LaPorte Regional Health System is providing approximately $60,000 to area students pursuing health careers in fields considered to be in critical need in the healthcare industry.

Scholarships awarded through LaPorte Hospital Foundation:

Magnuson Scholarship Award valued at $1,500 each awarded to Sandra R. Behrens, master's in healthcare administration, Columbia Southern University; Amy L. Noble, nursing management/administration, University of Phoenix; and Marcia S. Vermilye, nursing, MSN, Ball State University.

Siefker Scholarship Award valued at $500 awarded to Karen S. Chambly, respiratory care, Purdue North Central.

Sisson Scholarship Award valued at $1,000 awarded to Gail A. Laughlin, nursing, Ivy Tech Community College.

Kemp Scholarship Award valued at $1,500 awarded to Debra L. Swanson, nursing, MSN, Walden University.

Rumely Scholarship Award valued at $3,000 each awarded to Abigail M. Prast, pre-medicine, Hope College; Jeffrey L. Scott, nursing, Purdue North Central; and Carrie B. Sheldon, radiology/diagnostic imaging technologist, Purdue University.

LaPorte Hospital Foundation Scholarship valued at $1,000 each awarded to Pamela R. Covert, nursing, BSN, Ancilla College; Kristen M. Gonder, nursing, BSN, Purdue University; Tammy Hartman, nursing, BSN, Ivey Tech; Joshua Howell, cytotechnology, IU/PUI; Joshua Kellems, master in health studies/health promotion, University of Alabama; and Mary Ruwersma, nursing BSN, Purdue North Central.

Auxiliary Scholarships Renewals valued at $1,000 each awarded to Jim Eilers, nursing, Purdue University North Central; Linda Fischer, nursing, Purdue University; and Stephanie Gregory, nursing, Indiana University.

Door Prairie Painters Scholarship valued at $1,000 awarded to Ian Doig, biochemestry/pre-medicine, Indiana University.

LaPorte Hospital Auxiliary Scholarships valued at $750 each awarded to Jordan Amor, speech pathology, Ball State; Rachel Arney, physical therapy, University of Indianapolis; Christopher Bartholomew, radiation therapy, Indiana University; Rachel Bazzell, microbiology/biochemistry, Purdue University; Anna Coffey, psychology, Indiana University; Michelle Landry, pharmacy, Purdue University; Michelle Martin, nursing, Indiana University/Purdue University Indianapolis; Tyler Nowak, biology, Indiana University; Katherine Shelton, physical therapy, University of Evansville; Abby-Lynn Sliwa, nurse practitioner, Indiana University; Brittni Sprouse, pharmacy, Purdue University; Katherine Steinheiser, nursing, Ball State; and Shannah Watts, physical therapy, Purdue University.
