LAPORTE | There will be free parking in downtown LaPorte during the holidays to promote shopping.
The Board of Works this week adopted the measure, which goes into effect Dec. 10.
City Councilman Roger Galloway said no tickets will be issued in the designated two-hour parking spots until Christmas.
Galloway said he's not sure if it will help increase shopping downtown but feels it can't hurt.
"Let them shop. Look around. Eat. No tickets will be given," said Galloway.
