LAPORTE | The LaPorte County Historical Society, in conjunction with the Indiana Department of Natural Resources, is sponsoring a photo contest. The photo needs to be of a historic structure in LaPorte County that is at least 50 years old. The photo should be current- taken anytime within the last 2 years. It can be black and white or color and must be 8”x 10”, matted in or on a white 11”x 14” matte board.
The deadline for the contest is March 15. For a complete list of guidelines as well as an application, come to the LaPorte County Historical Society Museum and pick them up or contact the web site at www.laportecountyhistory.org and one will be sent. A filled out application must accompany each entry.
A panel consisting of a preservationist, a photographer, and/or an artist will judge the photos. Anyone under 18 must have a signature of a parent or guardian. Trophies will be given. The photos will be part of a temporary display at the museum and will become the property of the Historical Society. Winning photos will be sent to Indianapolis to compete at the state level and will become the property of the Indiana DNR.
The LaPorte County Historical Society Museum is located at 2405 Indiana Ave., and is open 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tuesday through saturday. There is an admission price. Call (219) 324-6767.
