A second suspect is now charged with thefts in Kingsbury that included taking a backhoe and stealing money from a safe.

Michael Shore, 24, of Springville was arraigned Friday in LaPorte Circuit Court with Class C felony burglary.

Shore is accused of breaking into the Kingsbury Fish and Wildlife Area in April and using a key to open a safe that was inside the building, according to court documents.

The amount of money taken from the safe was not disclosed.

According to court documents, a backhoe was taken a month later from the nearby U.S. Army Reserve Center in Kingsbury.

The backhoe was driven to Knox where it was used to demolish a building.

According to police, Shore along with Franklin Powell and one other individual were involved in the theft of the backhoe.

Powell, 23, of Walkerton has already been charged with two counts of aiding, inducing or causing burglary in connection with the backhoe theft and stealing of an all-terrain vehicle from the same Kingsbury site.
