LAPORTE | Three people were arrested Sunday at a LaPorte residence where police suspect methamphetamine was being made with a child in the home.

According to LaPorte police, officers about 2:30 p.m. were called to a mobile home at 1083 E. Ind. 2 in response to an anonymous tip.

Once allowed inside the home, officers detected a strong odor of chemicals and saw a propane torch, aluminum foil and other ingredients used in the manufacture of methamphetamine.

Officers arrested Adam Tener, 32, and Sebrina Hutson, 25, who both live at the residence, along with Karey Swedersky, 42, of Michigan City.

Police said Hutson was found with more than 20 individual packages containing methamphetamine inside her purse along with prescription pills.

During a search of the home, officers noticed the chemical smell becoming stronger, then found a box in the bathroom that contained another methamphetamine ingredient, lye, along with a measuring cup and an unidentified white powder, according to police.

Swedersky allegedly told police she had smoked some methamphetamine earlier in the day.

Police also were told by Tener that Swedersky and another person come over and cook methamphetamine at his residence.

According to police, a 12-year-old boy was in the home, sitting on a sofa playing video games. He was taken to a hospital for an evaluation because of possible exposure to the toxic vapors.

Police said the suspects were being held in the LaPorte County Jail while the LaPorte Metro Operations unit and prosecutors decide charges.
