LaPorte | The Second Saturdays Dog Days Downtown will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Sept. 14 in downtown LaPorte.

Businesses will welcome your furry friend and you may enjoy 'Rescue Avenue' (Michigan Avenue) as Downtown La Porte transforms into a canine haven with vendors, treats and more!

Disney characters Belle, Rapunzel & the Fairy Godmother will be coming to Michigan Avenue from 3 to 4:15 p.m. to kick off the event.

Pet micro-chipping will be provided by All Creatures Animal Hospital for $25, donations will be accepted for the Small Animal Shelter at Antique Junction and the Watch Dog program at Engstrom’s Jewelers will donate proceeds of watch batteries to the Northwest Indiana Death Row Dogs.

“Millie's Big Day” author Jay Hergott will be available with his pups for a book signing at Temple News Agency from 5 to 7 p.m.

The Mucho Mas team will be on the streets to snap paparazzi-style pictures of furry friends for photo contest fun. The winner will be announced a couple days later and will receive a $50 gift certificate.

Also, T-shirts to support the LaPorte Police Dept. K-9 program will be for sale.

2nd Saturdays! is a fun celebration of everything that is Downtown La Porte. Downtown business owners are encouraged to stay open late the 2nd Saturday of each month for an evening of fun and mingling!
