LAPORTE | It’s time to dust off the saddle shoes and poodle skirts and bring the whole family to the LaPorte County Historical Society Museum for a Fun Family Sock-Hop. From 1 to 4 p.m. listen to music from the 1950s. The current display for Spring 2014 is “Diners & Drive-Ins: Hometown Memories," and a Sock-Hop will bring back those happy memories. Prizes will be given for best costumes and best dance moves for adults and kids under 12. Start practicing your hula hoop moves, as well. There will be a competition to see who can last the longest. The Sock-hop will be held on the lower level of the museum and refreshments will be served in the meeting room.
Regular admission to the museum will be charged; however, there is no additional charge for the Sock-Hop. The La Porte County Historical Society Museum is located at 2405 Indiana Ave., LaPorte and is open 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. Call ahead for admission prices at (219) 324-6767, or visit www.laportecountyhistory.org. Children under 12 enter free.
