LAPORTE | Heroin is suspected in an overdose death in LaPorte.
Andew Vasiger, 21, was found Monday afternoon unresponsive on a bedroom floor in his home at Country Acres Apartments, police said.
LaPorte County Coroner John Sullivan said an accidental overdose of heroin is suspected judging by undisclosed evidence recovered from the residence. He said an official ruling is pending the results of a toxicology test.
Despite aggressive efforts to curb heroin use the past few years, Sullivan said use of the drug remains just as much of a problem.
"I haven’t seen a let up in the calls," said Sullivan.
