LAPORTE | A stretch of Ind. 2 in LaPorte was closed Friday to allow for  filming of a movie.

"Swan Song" is being directed by John Hancock, who was out with his film crew and members of his cast on the city's east side.

The state highway was closed starting about 5 a.m. to film a car accident scene at Ind. 2 and Scott Street. The highway reopened late in the morning as the film crews moved their operation to the side streets.

"It was a short little scene that we put together," said Kevin McGrail, the production manager of the film.

Hancock has produced films such as "Prancer," which has seen considerable play in theatres and on television.

McGrail said his crew is about halfway done with filming. The movie will debut in 2014.
