LAPORTE | A man forced his way inside a LaPorte home Tuesday night demanding money for gasoline, but apparently he was not driving a car.
Police said the victim answered his door in the 1500 block of Indiana Avenue and a stranger forced his way inside.
The victim reached into his pocket and handed the man $50 but the intruder told him "that wasn't enough" for the gas he needed to buy, police said.
So, the victim gave him another $50 and the suspect fled.
Police said officers soon located a man fitting the description of the suspect on a bicycle at 7th and B streets, but he managed to slip away on the bicycle.
