LAPORTE | Sheriff Michael Mollenhauer has announced that the La Porte County Sheriff’s Office will host the 14th annual Peace Officer Memorial Service on Monday, May 20 at 11 am. The Sheriff’s Office is pleased to announce that this year’s keynote speaker will be the Superintendent of the Indiana State Police, Doug Carter.
Superintendent Carter was raised in La Porte and graduated from La Porte High School in 1980. He is a graduate of Ball State University and holds a Bachelor of Science degree. He served eighteen years with the Indiana State Police prior to being elected to the office of Sheriff of Hamilton County (Indiana). He served two terms as Hamilton County Sheriff, from January 2003 to December 2010.
The La Porte County Sheriff’s Office is proud of the tradition of exceptional speakers who have provided addresses at past Peace Officer Memorial services. These speakers include United States Congressman Joe Donnelly, Chicago Police Department Superintendent Terry Hillard, Governor Joe Kernan, the Attorney General of the State of Indiana, the United States Attorney for Northern Indiana and Chicago Alderman and published historian of the Chicago Police Department Edward Burke.
