LAPORTE | Indiana University Health La Porte Hospital offers first-aid, CPR and AED courses to the public in La Porte.
The Heartsaver® CPR/AED course teaches how to relieve choking on an adult, child or infant. Students will learn the critical skills and knowledge needed to respond to and manage an emergency situation in the first few minutes until emergency medical services arrives. Cost is $50.
The course is offered from 6 pm to 9 pm (Central time) on Mondays:

• Sept. 15
• Nov. 17
The Heartsaver® First-Aid, CPR and AED course teaches the critical skills and knowledge needed to respond to and manage a first-aid or sudden cardiac arrest emergency in the first few minutes until emergency medical services arrives. Content includes how to treat bleeding, sprains, broken bones, shock and other first-aid emergencies as well as perform CPR and use an AED. Cost is $65 per person.
The course is offered from 8 am to 3 pm (Central time) on Saturdays:
• April 12
• June 7
• Aug. 9
• Nov. 8
Both courses are open to anyone with limited or no medical training. In addition, the course is intended for anyone who needs a completion card in CPR and AED use to meet job, regulatory or other requirements.
Both courses are held at 1100 Lincolnway (lower level) in La Porte. Cash, credit card or money order is accepted.
