LAPORTE | On Saturday, March 22, the La Porte County Family YMCA is hosting a 5K Run/Walk & 10K Run to inspire people in Northwest Indiana and the surrounding areas to keep their minds and bodies active this spring. The Y’s 5K/10K is a Calumet Region Striders Gold Cup Series race and will feature chip timing and awards for both events. The scenic course at Soldier’s Memorial Park in La Porte, Indiana motivates runners and walkers to reach their health and fitness goals while encouraging a strong sense of community interaction.
The YMCA’s 11th Annual 5K Run/Walk & 10K Run, aims to get more adults, teens and seniors moving, so they can keep up their exercise habits all spring and summer long – a critical part of a healthy living lifestyle. Research shows that incorporating physical exercise into a daily routine is a beneficial way to invest in your future health.

The La Porte County Family YMCA’s 5K Run/Walk & 10K Run takes place at Soldier’s Memorial Park on Saturday, March 22, 2014. To register, visit the La Porte Y branch located at 901 Michigan Ave., La Porte, Indiana or by visiting www.active.com. Registration is from 7:20 a.m. until 8:50 a.m. The 10K Run begins at 9:00 a.m. (CDT) and the 5K Run/Walk begins at 9:15 a.m. (CDT) and features both chip timing and awards for each event.
