A LaCrosse man could face time in prison for killing his neighbor's dog with an arrow.

Mark Kleist, 54, was arraigned on a Class D felony charge of killing a domestic animal, an offense that could result in a six month to three year sentence.

Kleist told investigators the mixed-breed dog for weeks had been coming onto his property -- once "mauling" his 3-year-old grandson, who was left with scratches to his chest, face and back.

On June 4, Kleist said he shot the dog with his camouflage bow after the animal, while being chased off his property, ran toward his 3-year-old granddaughter while she was riding a bicycle in his driveway.

The owner, Jacob Marr told police Milo was still a puppy and only wanted to play. According to police, it appears the dog was kept inside an enclosed front porch and kept escaping through the screen on the storm door.

Kleist was allowed to remain free on the $600 bond he previously posted.
