LAPORTE | The La Porte County Historical Society Museum has scheduled many fun events for the whole family for the summer of 2013. Mark your calendars now so you don’t miss anything!

Now till the end of May-

“Forgotten History” display

Saturday, May 18th, 7pm-

“Historical Broadway” Variety Show- Local talent will be performing songs from shows based in Historical Fact.

June through August-

“With This Ring: Mid-century Weddings” display. A variety of wedding gowns from the Historical Society’s collection featuring those from the 1940’s-1970’s will be on display.

Saturday, June 1st., 1-4PM

Step back in time to a 1950’s-style garden party wedding reception, featuring wedding cake, punch, tea sandwiches, etc. to kick-off the new display.

Saturday June 22 & Sunday June 23-

CIVIL WAR RE-ENACTMENT! 2 days of battles, camping, live entertainment, a Ball on Saturday night, a Ladies’ Tea, programs, etc. Special admission to the re-enactment and the museum: $5 per car load.

Saturday, July 6th, 1pm-

A Wedding Fashion Show in the main lobby of the museum, featuring gowns from the current display, “With This Ring”.

Saturday, July 27th, from 9AM-3PM-

6th Annual Old Car Show. Also, meet members of the Tucker family! Only $10 to register an old car, at least 30 years old. Special admission to the car show and museum:

$5 per car load.

Saturday, August 10th, 1PM-

2nd Annual Memorial Gardens living cemetery tour. Meet residents of the past on the front lawn of the museum.

Saturday, August 24th, Family Fun Day-

Help celebrate the 85th birthday of the Washington Park Zoo with a petting zoo and a peek at the new permanent zoo display in the museum.

All museum programs are free; However, regular museum admission will apply. The only exceptions are the car show and Civil War re-enactment where special admission rates will be observed.
