LaPorte credit union doubles its size, adds drive-thru lanes

LAPORTE | First Trust Credit Union is doubling the size of its LaPorte branch.

Credit union officials on Thursday said the branch at 402 J St., will double its existing size to 3,000 square feet by spring.

"This is giving us an opportunity to better serve our members," said Howard Smith, chairman of the credit union board.

Two additional offices, a new lobby, additional parking and one more drive-through lane are among the new features being added.

First Trust Credit Union began in 1959 and now has 13,000 members at five branches in LaPorte, Michigan City, Valparaiso, Wheatfield and Rensselaer.
