SOUTH BEND | A LaPorte man involved in an Oct. 14 motorcycle crash has died.
Billy Willard, 62, succumbed to a brain injury Monday at Memorial Hospital in South Bend, according to LaPorte County Sheriff's Department.
According to authorities, Willard tried changing lanes Oct. 14 to avoid a semi truck merging from Interstate 94 onto U.S. 20 just east of Michigan City, police said.
He lost control of his 2007 Harley Davidson and wound up on the pavement with the motorcycle on top of him.
At the time, Willard managed to speak, but told officers he did not remember what happened.
The truck driver from Ohio, who stopped to check on Willard, was not injured.
