LAPORTE | Two brothers were hospitalized Tuesday, one after being stabbed allegedly by his sibling.

Police were called early Tuesday to a home in the 800 block of Linwood Avenue where they found a man covered in blood. Officers said another blood-soaked man came sliding headfirst down a stairwell claiming he was stabbed.

The investigation shows the brothers, in their 50s, were drinking beer when the older brother became violent and struck his younger brother in the head with a metal pipe, police said.

Police said it appears the younger brother was also stabbed in the neck with a screwdriver.

The older brother claimed he also was stabbed, but police said there was no evidence of a stab wound on him.

What his other injuries might have been were not disclosed.

Police did not reveal whether charges were being pursued and efforts to reach police throughout the day were not successful.
