LAPORTE | Brad Hindsley will attempt to make a bacon, lettuce and tomato sandwich longer than a football field.
He'll enter the Guinness Book of World Record if he accomplishes the feat.
Hindsley, the owner of Farm to Fork restaurant in LaPorte, has scheduled Feb. 10 to build a 350-long BLT sandwich at the LaPorte County Fairgrounds.
The current record is 308 feet.
"We wanted to blow the whole record out of the water," Hindsley said.
He said the 200 pounds of bacon, 180 loaves of bread and other ingredients will cost about $2,500.
Hindsley said slices of the sandwich will be available for sale during the event. Money will go to the LaPorte Salvation Army and other charitable organizations.
