A LaPorte woman was arrested on a felony child neglect charge Thursday after police found her 3-year-old son home alone, police said.
Jenna Armstrong's 18-year-old son, with whom she left the child, also could face charges, police said.
Officers were called about 5:30 p.m. Thursday to the 500 block of Circle Drive on a report of a young child left unattended.
An officer looked through a window and spotted the 3-year-old boy wearing just a diaper on a bed watching a movie, police said.
The front door had been left slightly ajar, police said.
An officer stayed at the residence for one hour, but when nobody showed up the child was dressed and taken to the Police Department, police said.
Contact was later made with Armstrong, 28, who told officers she left the boy with the 18-year-old, police said.
The 18-year-old, who also lives at the residence, called police asking where the boy and his mother were about two hours after the complaint was first received, police said.
The 18-year-old told investigators he left to see his girlfriend but returned 10 minutes later, police said.
Armstrong is expected to be charged with Class D felony neglect of a dependent, police said.
A warrant is being sought for the arrest of the 18-year-old on neglect of a dependent and false informing charges, police said.
