NEW CARLISLE |From names like Brokebat Mountain, Speedy Chickenheads to Lou Brocks and The Great Bambinos, 40 teams participated in this year's 2012 City Championship Wiffle Ball Tournament in New Carlisle's Hometown Days.
"This has just become a tradition," said Koby Kleck, City Championship Tournament Director. "Teams from Illinois, Michigan and elsewhere come together to have fun and enjoy the game."
The 40 teams play game after game until the final four advance to Sunday's Championship play. This year the Lou Brocks took home the championship.
"We won last year and just enjoy coming out," said Nate Hansen, Ambassadors of Classic. "My team is from Valpo, Schererville and Munster and won last year. Obviously we all want to win but basically we come out to hang out with friends and reflect on the game we grew up playing and have a great time along the way."
The tournament has become a long-standing tradition in New Carlisle for years and has grown in popularity over the years jumping from 16 to 40 teams.
