LAPORTE | A LaPorte man was arraigned Wednesday on allegations he tried assaulting his stepfather with an ax.
Austin Justice, 19, is charged in LaPorte Circuit Court with Class D felony criminal recklessness. According to LaPorte Police, officers were called Tuesday about 11 p.m. to the 400 block of Park Street.
A 44-year-old man told officers Justice began to get angry over some "Internet fighting" and left, but soon returned with an ax. The stepfather said he was on the front porch when Justice took a swing at him with the doubled-sided blade on a long wooden handle.
The stepfather was nearly hit and ran inside his home locking the front door. Justice began hitting the door with the ax and, when officers arrived, they discovered three holes in the door that appeared to be from a sharp instrument, police said.
Justice could face anywhere from a six-month to three-year sentence.
