Michigan City | On Sept. 28, the community is invited to participate in free paddling festivities at Washington Park, from 10 a.m. to noon. Wilderness Inquiry trained staff will provide all the paddling and safety equipment and lead the Voyageur canoe adventures. All participants will need to bring is a water bottle, warm clothing and an interest in having a good time (no prior experience is needed).
The Canoemobile is brought to Michigan City by Wilderness Inquiry in partnership with members of The Trail Creek Watershed Steering Committee including the LaPorte County Soil and Water Conservation District, Northwest Indiana Paddling Association, Indiana Department of Natural Resources, National Park Service, Michigan City Sanitary District, The Michigan City Port Authority and The Urban Waters Federal Partnership.
This day was made possible by a generous grant from The Michigan City Community Enrichment Corporation.
An outreach effort of Urban Wilderness Canoe Adventures, the Canoemobile program will serve the area's public schools and youth organizations.
