LAPORTE | The LaPorte County Historical Society, in conjunction with the Indiana Department of Natural Resources, is again sponsoring a photo contest. Eligable photos must depict an historical structure in LaPorte County that is at least 50 years old. The photo should be recent — taken within the last 2 years. It can be black and white or color and must be 8”x 10”. The photos do not have to be matted. The deadline for the contest is March 15. For a complete list of guidelines as well as an application, come to the La Porte County Historical Society Museum and pick them up or visit www.laportecountyhistory.org. A filled out application must accompany each entry.
A panel consisting of a preservationist, a photographer and an artist will judge the photos. Anyone under 18 years of age must have a signature of a parent or guardian. Trophies will be given. The photos will be part of a temporary display at the museum and will become the property of the Historical Society. Winning photos will be sent to Indianapolis to compete at the state level and will become the property of the Indiana DNR.
The museum is at 2405 Indiana Ave. Hours are 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. Call ahead for admission prices at (219) 24-6767.
