The health fair, which features a health diagnostics screening valued at $450 for a cost of only $45, will be available from 7:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. CDT during the field day. The program lineup this year includes a variety of topics on field crops and their management by Purdue Extension Specialists. During the field day tours, participants will make five stops covering topics related to corn, soybeans, diseases, forages, and the latest drought information.
During lunch, brief comments will be made by representatives from the Purdue University College of Agriculture. Invited to conclude the famous pork chop lunch is Dr. Karen Plaut, Purdue Director of Ag Research Farms.
A twilight program is planned again this year for those unable to attend the morning programs. Beginning at 5:30 p.m. CDT, three Purdue Extension Specialists will cover diseases, corn and soybeans, and how drought has played a significant role in yields this year.
Those needing recertification credits for their private applicator pesticide licenses can fulfill one-third of their obligations at the field day or twilight program (a $10 fee will be charged for PARP credits). Those with commercial pesticide applicator licenses and Certified Crop Advisers can also acquire needed continuing education hours.
