LAPORTE | Take a step back in time during the Pioneer Land Christmas open house from 3 to 8 p.m. Saturday Dec. 7 and Sunday Dec. 8 at the LaPorte County Fairgrounds, 2581 W. State Road 2.

Pioneer Land is decorated the way it would have been back in the 1840s. Decorations are handmade and true to the period.

The family-friendly, free event also includes draft-horse wagon rides (weather permitting) and warm cider and cookies are served in the two log cabins. All 12 buildings will be open during the event.

It began in 1995 as part of the LaPorte County Fair’s 150th anniversary. The entire village was funded and is operated by volunteers. The village depicts the 1800-1840's time period.
