WESTVILLE | The state’s highest distinction has been bestowed upon Purdue North Central chancellor James Dworkin.
Dworkin said he was giving a power point presentation in front of more than 100 people at the campus near Westville when surprised Wednesday by state Sen. Jim Arnold, D-LaPorte, with the Sagamore of the Wabash.
“It was a great honor,” said Dworkin.
Dworkin, who has been chancellor at PNC since 2000, said among the accomplishments he's most proud of during his tenure are the number of bachelor's degree programs increasing from six to 24 and offering free tuition at PNC to students in LaPorte, Michigan City and Portage who never had a family member graduate from college.
The Sagamore of the Wabash is presented by the governor for distinguished service to the state.
