LAPORTE | A man suspected of robbing a LaPorte credit union Tuesday fled but was captured when he crashed his vehicle, police said.
Officers responded to a report of an armed robbery at First Trust Credit Union, 402 J St., about 10 a.m.
Police learned the robber displayed a knife, demanded money and fled in a blue Pontiac southbound on J Street, police said.
Eventually, the suspect crashed his vehicle near the intersection of Silverbrook and Greenwood Avenues, off Ind. 4 on the city's southeast side.
Nick Zupcko, 22, of LaPorte, was being held on Class B felony armed robbery charges.
Whether money was taken in the robbery was not disclosed.
