LAPORTE | Police in LaPorte are investigating a possible link in the theft of jars containing money donated for sick children.

The latest theft July 31 happened when a woman walked into the Marathon station at 1338 W. Ind. 2.

Video surveillance shows when the clerk turned her back the woman took a jar off the counter that contained about $50 for a local child with cancer.

A similar-looking woman at the nearby Speedway removed a jar containing an undisclosed of money for the Children’s Miracle Network.

Both women were described as having blonde hair and similar other physical features, but nothing definite has emerged to say for certain if there is a link.

"There’s not enough to say if it’s the same person," said LaPorte police Detective Brian Phillips.
