WESTVILLE | A Westville man was arrested Wednesday after police found an arsenal of guns and ammunition inside his home after receiving a complaint of a child sex crime.
Vincent Jones was booked into the LaPorte County Jail on Class B felony charge of felon in possession of firearms.
About 4 p.m., officers responded to New Durham Estates on a complaint that Jones committed a sex offense on a 15-year-old girl.
When police arrived, they found guns inside the home, according to LaPorte County police.
After spotting items like holsters on top of a gun safe and two ammunition containers filled with hundreds of rounds for various caliber weapons, police arrested Jones upon learning he had spent prison time in several states.
Seized from the home were more than a dozen firearms consisting of handguns, rifles and shotguns along with several thousand rounds of ammunition.
Among the firearms seized was a loaded assault weapon, police said.
LaPorte County police Chief of Detectives Pat Cicero said the sex crimes allegations are still being investigated.
