Police: LaPorte High School candy thieves arrested
LAPORTE | Four LaPorte High School students were arrested this week on charges they took candy and money from the locker of a classmate selling chocolate to raise money.
Police said surveillance video taken after school Jan. 27 showed two boys and two girls roaming the hallways and checking for any locker doors that might open.
One of the doors opened, and the group took about a dozen chocolate bars and $35 in cash from inside of it, police said.
The locker belongs to a girl who was selling the candy to raise money for the high school gymnastics team, police said.
The girl filed a complaint when she returned to school Monday and found the items were missing.
The suspects, ages 16 and 15, were charged with theft and trespassing.
When arrested Tuesday, one of the suspects had $25 of the stolen funds, police said.
