LAPORTE | The employee at LaPorte’s Blue Heron Inn enjoys being able to interact with people on a daily basis and making sure their stay, not only at the Blue Heron, but in LaPorte, overall, is a good one.
Because she works hard at that, she was awarded with Visit Michigan City LaPorte Convention & Visitors Bureau monthly Recognition of Service Excellence (R.O.S.E.) Award for the month of April.
“It’s nice to know that what I do is appreciated by people,” Maynard said, as she stood outside the Blue Heron Inn on the sunny shore of Pine Lake last week. “I try to make sure everyone is happy, so it’s nice to know it was appreciated.”
Maynard was nominated for the award by out of town guests who ended up loving their stay.
“During a recent mini-vacation stay, I received excellent service during my check in and helpful advice on local attractions. Especially helpful because it was raining so we needed indoor activities in the area,” the nomination said. “The restaurant we ate at was delicious, and spent the afternoon at the County Museum. The hotel was in tip top shape as well.”
For winning the R.O.S.E. Award, Maynard received a framed certificate and a rose corsage with a $100 bill folded inside. She will be honored at the yearly R.O.S.E. Luncheon, held each spring along with Porter County, and will be nominated for the Indiana Hoosier Hospitality Award.
