LAPORTE COUNTY | Throughout the LaPorte County, at many restaurants, stores and other establishments, R.O.S.E. nomination cards will soon be provided for the patrons to use, explaining the exceptional service that was provided by the front line employee.

The new card has a QR code on it so that the patron can make their nomination onsite at the time of service, or they can take the card with them to make an online nomination at a later time. These nominations come back into our office, and are entered into our database. Each month a report is generated and sent to a panel of judges, who vote on the most outstanding act of customer service for that month. The only information given to the panel is the description of the service provided. The nominees are anonymous during the judging. When a winner is chosen, a R.O.S.E. ceremony is presented by the staff of the LaPorte County Convention and Visitors Bureau at the winner's place of business with an audience of the recipient's co-workers. There the recipient of the award receives a

certificate of appreciation, and a rose corsage, with the greenery consisting of a one hundred dollar bill. The winner also is announced in local newspapers, and on the LPCCVB website. In addition, the Bureau hosts an annual R.O.S.E. luncheon recognizing the past year's recipients, and the R.O.S.E. recipient of the year. This presentation acts as an incentive for front line employees to continue to give outstanding customer service, for their place of business, and for the patrons who invest their money in LaPorte County

One of the first and lasting impressions a visitor takes with him when visiting an establishment, is that of the frontline employee. An entire vacation or excursion can be based on one experience encountered with a frontline employee, and the kind of service that was provided. Customer service can be the main factor determining if the visitor will want to return. Frontline employees, be they wait staff, front desk attendant, sales associate, or any service related representative, are extremely important to the tourism industry. They are the first, and many times, last faces a visitor sees, before leaving to return home. Excellent customer service is crucial in adding to a pleasant experience in LaPorte County.

So, the next time you are impressed with excellent customer service in LaPorte County, take a few minutes to complete a R.O.S.E. nomination and possibly reward someone who takes pride in their community. Not many other roses smell as sweet as a one hundred dollar R.O.S.E.
