MICHIGAN CITY | Michiana Resources will host an open house of its Respite Services facility at 1800 S. Woodlawnd Ave., Michigan City on March 6 from 4 to 8 p.m.
This Respite Home is the only facility of its kind in Northwest Indiana and its services are open to persons living throughout Northwest Indiana, lower Michigan and the Chicago area. It provides a comfortable, safe, secure place for individuals with disabilities to enjoy while their caregivers take a break, tend to errands, or take a long-awaited vacation.
The home operates seven days a week and 24 hours a day and offers scheduled activities and overnight visits for both children and adults with disabilities. The home is fully wheelchair-accessible and is the only home in the area fully equipped with fire safety equipment, including fire suppression and intercoms, as well as an AED device on site. All staff members are certified in medication administration, CPR, first aid and behavior intervention.
Services are eligible for payment through a Medicaid Waiver or private-pay contract.
Parents and caregivers are encouraged to attend the open house to tour the facility, meet staff members and learn more about the many options available to them and their family members.
