LAPORTE | Plans are in full swing for this year's La Porte Santa Parade, which will be marching through downtown La Porte on Saturday, Nov. 26 at 12 p.m. Santa will be escorted through the parade on a fire engine, and then taken to his chalet, which will be located at the La Porte Chamber of Commerce.

This event, organized by volunteers from the Greater La Porte Chamber of Commerce, Kiwanis Club of La Porte and La Porte Family YMCA, brings together hundreds of families from around the county and kicks off the holiday season. The Parade was also made possible by a grant from the La Porte Urban Enterprise Association.

Following the parade, children can visit with Santa in his Chalet from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. He will also be available on Saturday, Dec. 3 and 10 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m, and Dec. 17 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.

Applications to enter floats, walking characters or motorized units are currently being accepted. This year's theme is "Santa Claus is Coming to Downtown."

To receive an entry form, contact the La Porte Chamber at 219.362.3178.
