LAPORTE | The Churches of LaPorte had a great day and tons of volunteers for their their third annual “Sharefest”! We started on the steps of the LaPorte City Hall for a brief opening orientation and prayer. At 8:30am, the volunteers were released serve the city. Sharefest is a “day of sharing” by the churches and organizations of the community.
The following projects and groups served during Sharefest:
St. Paul Episcopal Church provided a Community Meal, Door Village United Methodist Church served a variety of needy people, Liberty Bible Church mowed a home owner’s lawn and worked on renovation at the Worthy Women Recovery Home, The River Christian Fellowship had a free Oil Change for Single Mom’s, Salem United Methodist Church spread the mulch at LaPlay Porte, Church of the Brethren and New Church played bingo with the residents at the LaPorte County Home, Granger Community Church spread mulch at Rees Park, Rotary Club of LaPorte cleaned up at Craven’s Pond and spread mulch at Stone Lake Park, First United Methodist Church spread LaPlay Porte Playground, Sacred Heart Catholic Church spread mulch at Warsaw and City Park Parks and Bethany Lutheran Church built a Ramp for a handicapped person at their home.
Sharefest 2013 is the third annual “Day of Sharing” by the LaPorte churches. Our desire to come together in the name of Christ and make a difference in our community. For more information and how you and your church can be involved next year go to www.laportesharefest.org
