LAPORTE | The 100th anniversary celebration of Fox Park begins at 2 p.m. Saturday with a classic car and tractor show.

Other festivities include live music beginning at 4, a rededication of the park at 5 and a fireworks show over Clear Lake at dusk.

The first 15 acres of the park were donated to the city in 1913 by the Fox family, which operated Fox Woolen Mills.

The family also donated to the city property still used today such as the Civic Auditorium and Beechwood Municipal Golf Course, said LaPorte County historian Fern Schultz.

"We should all be pretty proud of what the Foxes have done for LaPorte," said Schultz.

Fox Park along Truesdell Avenue now consists of 100 acres, officials said.
