LAPORTE | Officials are investigating a two-vehicle crash involving cows that has backed up traffic on the Indiana Toll Road between mile marker 43 and mile marker 46.
The crash happened just after 9 p.m. near mile marker 43 on the westbound lanes, Indiana State Police said. The crash involved a car that rolled over and another car that had slight damage.
Police said there were cows on the road, but it wasn't clear Thursday night where the animals came from or if they caused the crash. Troopers said the two cars that were involved in the crash were not transporting the animals.
At least one person was transported to a local hospital for evaluation Thursday night, police said. Initial reports indicate all of the injuries were minor.
Troopers and the LaPorte County Sheriff's Office were still out on the scene Thursday night trying to sort out of the details of the crash. Traffic was begin to move on the westbound lanes as of 10:40 p.m.
