LAPORTE | La Porte County, IN) La Porte County Public Library will host two programs recognizing veterans this month. To commemorate Veteran's Day, Lakeshore Public Television will present the documentary "World War II: Region Remembers" on November 11 at 2pm at Main, which features stories from area veterans. After the screening, there will be open discussion with veterans and attendees.

The Library of Congress has a fascinating project called the Veterans History Project. This project helps preserve these memories, not only for your family, but for researchers and interested people everywhere. People can visit the collection of stories at the Library of Congress in Washington D.C. or by visiting the Library of Congress Website.

On November 14th at 6pm, the Coolspring Branch Location will have a Veterans History Project program where attendees can learn more about how to contribute to the Veterans History Project. Veterans can learn how to start writing their memoirs for submission; family and friends of veterans can learn how to go about creating and submitting an interview. Those attending will also learn what formats are acceptable and what paperwork is needed by the Library of Congress.
